Two Premier League strikers have emerged as potential January transfer targets for Arsenal.

Arsenal are said to be weighing up a transfer swoop for struggling Everton striker Dominic Calver-Lewin, in what would be a somewhat unexpected January move from Mikel Arteta and the Gunners.

The Yorkshire Post has the latest on the future of the former Sheffield United man, who has been linked with an exit from Goodison Park in recent windows. Calvert-Lewin's contract is up at the end of this season which could push the Toffees to cash in on his services come January.

According to The Sun, the 27-year-old has had a £20 million price tag placed on his services, having bagged 56 Premier League goals so far in his career. However, Calvert-Lewin has just two goals to his name this term and hasn't found the back of the net since September, despite plenty of minutes under Sean Dyche this term.

The outlet names Arsenal as one of several Premier League clubs believing that they could breathe new life into the striker's performances. West Ham, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also touted as potential suitors.

Speaking about the player's future at Everton recently, Dyche said: "The number one priority since I’ve been here is safeguarding our status. Along the journey, we’ve obviously had to bring money in but fortunately have never been pushed as far as giving players away for any cost. We can still make decisions on situations and I can’t see anything other than Dom certainly being here until the end of his contract and then hopefully beyond.

"I have an opinion of course on player trading, players in, players out, contracts. Kev [Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell] will take care of the business side of the club and we’ve worked pretty well together so far. We are pretty much aligned in what we think."

Arsenal and Liverpool interested in Brighton striker

Should a move for Calvert-Lewin be a non-starter, Arteta is believed to have other targets in mind to add goal power to his stuttering title charge come the New Year. Fichajes claims that Brighton man Joao Pedro is being carefully watched by those in charge of recruitment at the Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old has been in more prolific form for the Seagulls this term than Calvert-Lewin has for Everton. The Brazilian has four goals and three assists to his name, despite having not been in the Brighton squad for six Premier League games this term.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in Pedro's services but Arsenal are willing to fork out more than £50 million for a player who still has plenty of potential to fulfil.
