Liverpool are in a bit of a tricky situation with the contracts of multiple star players, including Trent Alexander Arnold, who has been subject to links with a move away from Anfield Stadium given his current contract status at L4.
The England international’s current contract with the Merseysiders comes to a conclusion at the end of the ongoing season, and multiple clubs have been keen on taking advantage of the opportunity.
Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly the favourites to land the 26-year-old star; however, in a surprise turn of events, Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester City have expressed interest in signing Trent, per [Caught Offside.](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/12/07/manchester-city-open-talks-sign-trent-alexander-arnold/)
The report suggests that Pep Guardiola’s side has opened talks with the player about a possible move following the Reds struggles to extend his contract.

The Manchester Blues are looking to move on from Kyle Walker in the right fullback role, and they are looking to land a technical player who is possibly the best in the league in his position.
For Liverpool, keeping hold of Trent is crucial, and failing to extend his contract will raise questions about the current chiefs at the helm at Kirkby, and Trent, particularly, is a player that is a Red through and through, and losing a homegrown talent will hurt the supporters deeply, especially if he joins Man City (which looks highly unlikely at the moment).
