Real Madrid are believed to be chasing a key Liverpool player who Arne Slot has heavily relied upon so far this season.
Reds supporters have gotten used to the fact that in recent years Real Madrid have been a thorn in their side both when on and off the pitch.
Signing Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham in consecutive summers, both of whom were Liverpool targets, two big Champions League final losses, a battering in the round of 16 in the same competition and now trying to prise Trent Alexander-Arnold away from his boyhood club, it was only their recent Champions League match which left Reds feeling like maybe they could start getting their own back.
Now however, it looks like the Spanish side will be attempting a swoop for another key part of Arne Slot’s Premier League-leading team, possibly even as early as this upcoming January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano confirms shock move for Liverpool flop

In an unexpected move, Hungarian giants Ferencvaros are signing former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita.
Confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, he'll head to Budapest from Werder Bremen on a one year loan with an option to buy.
Keita last made an appearance for the German side back in March, falling out of favour with the club and only making the bench once in that entire time.
An injury kept him out for a large part of this season but Bremen wouldn't have been playing him regardless.

Martin Zubimendi's Liverpool future in doubt
© IMAGO
Liverpool’s approach for Martin Zubimendi was one of the higher-profile misses for a top club in recent memory.
And it wasn’t just the transfer itself that was a miss, but it was the manner in which the rejection came. Liverpool had reportedly agreed a fee with Real Sociedad for the transfer, but it was Zubimendi himself who rejected the club.
Another twist to the tale came when reports from Spain suggested that Zubimendi himself had regrets over rejecting Liverpool in the summer, and suggestions that he was actually more persuaded into it than making the decision himself. Buoyed by this news, it seems like Arne Slot’s main target might just be ready to come and contribute from as early as January.
But that’s all taken a bit of a left turn now as he left Sociedad’s game on Sunday just five minutes after half time with a lower back injury.

Liverpool face battle for shock £66m Luis Diaz replacement
© IMAGO
Liverpool have been magnificent in attack this season, scoring a whopping 49 goals in just 21 matches.
While Mohamed Salah has taken on plenty of responsibility once again, the returns have been shared across the forward line.
Specifically on the left-hand side of the pitch, Luis Diaz (nine goals) and Cody Gakpo (eight goals) have been tearing it up this season, battling it out for game time, while producing their best when an opportunity arose.
While Liverpool are comfortable relying on Gakpo at left wing, and while Diaz remains frustrated with the club's low-ball offer for an extension, there is potential that he may end up elsewhere next season.
According to CaughtOffside, if the Colombian does end up heading elsewhere, Liverpool have identified a £66m replacement who would be open to negotiations.

Liverpool have been fending off interest for a number of their stars throughout the season, with big clubs linked with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Sporting director Richard Hughes has had his work cut out in his short time at the club, having only managed to secure two signings during the summer transfer window: Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia and Federico Chiesa from Juventus, who has already been linked with a move back to Italy.
Despite this, Liverpool have had plenty of success in the loan market this season, having sent a number of young players out to other clubs to gain experience. Ben Doak has been on fire for Middlesborough and has become one of Scotland’s most influential players over the past few months, while Owen Beck has impressed at promotion-chasing Blackburn in the Championship as well.
According to the Lancaster Guardian Morecambe have been in contact with Liverpool and have asked to extend Rhys Williams’ loan spell at the club.

Forget Martin Zubimendi: Liverpool can do better with any of these three players

Liverpool haven’t exactly kept their desires for Martin Zubimendi a secret, with renewed rumours that they would look to again try and secure his services at the earliest possible opportunity.
But a real spanner got thrown into the works over the weekend as the Spanish international was forced off during Real Sociedad’s 3-0 win over Leganes just after the start of the second half.
With what Mundo Deportivo are calling a injury “in the right dorsal lumbar region” (read that as ‘lower back’), it does bring the potential of a Zubimendi transfer into immediate doubt.
Which brings about the question - what do Liverpool do if they can’t sign their desired man?
Here’s three alternatives should Liverpool look elsewhere.
