The Rip City Remix _almost_ pulled off a miraculous comeback in the final minute of Monday’s home game against the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Trailing 110-101 with just over 50 seconds remaining, the Remix ripped off a 8-2 run to make it 112-109 with 14 seconds left. Then Remix wing Justin Minaya turned over former Blazers forward Kevin Knox II, setting up a potential game-tying 3 for Remix guard Bryce McGowens in the closing seconds: It came up well short and the Warriors escaped the Chiles Center with the 112-109 win.
The loss dropped the Remix to 3-9 on the NBA G League season.
**Remix Player of the Game: Bryce McGowens.** The Trail Blazers/Remix two-way contract guard dropped 37 points on 11-25 shooting (2-8 from 3), to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Heading into Monday’s game, the 6-foot-6 McGowens led the G League in scoring with 29.4 points per game. This latest mark will help boost that average.
**Stat of the Night: 35-15.** The Remix entered the third quarter with a 10-point lead, and the Remix left the quarter facing a 10-point deficit. The Warriors outscored the Remix 35-15 in the third, making life difficult for the home team in the final quarter.
