Huge impact expected throughout Louisiana as New Orleans set to host Super Bowl for record 11th time

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - “The history of the Super Bowl and the culture goes right into the theme of what New Orleans and Louisiana is all about.”

“For a record breaking 11th time, we’re set for a Super Sunday inside the Superdome. On February 9, the NFL world will come together in New Orleans. The hope is the state’s own franchise will be a part of it.”

“I’m not hoping, it’s going to happen,” says Jay Cicero, President and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. “I’ve got the Saints and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, with the Saints beating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.”

It’s not hard to see why the Big Easy landed the Big Game.

“Proximity of having 25,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the Superdome, Convention Center and your entertainment district. That’s a rarity.”

As last seen nearly a dozen years ago, hosting Super Bowls benefit the state’s pocketbook.

“In 2013, it’s a $480 million dollar economic impact on the State of Louisiana, and about $35 million dollars in state and regional taxes generated. Now, it’ll be 12 years later. So, you know it’s going to be bigger than that.”
