Considering how inconsistent Manchester City have been for much of the 2024/2025 season, not many of their players have stood out.
Erling Haaland and Josko Gvardiol potentially stand out as Manchester City’s two best players this season.
But barring the pair, Pep Guardiola would be alarmed by the performances of several of his players.
However, there is still plenty of time left in the season for some of City’s biggest names to rise to the occasion.
Over the years, the Etihad Stadium has become accustomed to world-class displays on a consistent basis.

But both collectively as well as individually, the Sky Blues look miles off from their brilliant best.
One player whose form has been far from satisfactory this campaign is Kyle Walker.
Tony Cascarino says ‘Kyle Walker’s form is alarming’ this season
In Manchester City’s latest 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, the Englishman had a game to forget.
Playing Daniel Munoz onside when City’s backline had pushed up as a unit to set an offside trap and letting Maxence Lacroix have a free run at heading the ball into the back of the net meant he was largely responsible was the concession of both goals.
On talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino criticised Walker’s performances this term.
“I think Kyle Walker’s form is alarming, how much of a dip-off he’s had this season.”
“From someone so experienced. He’s not defended the situation well at all [for Lacroix’s goal], he’s been caught static and he’s noted for how strong he is and he’s not got around the body. It’s a strange lot of circumstances.”
Jamie Carragher slated Walker for becoming a “liability” for this Manchester City side and it is tough not to agree with him.
Manchester City fans demanded Walker’s exit after he struggled in his side’s recent 2-0 defeat against Liverpool.
Reece James hailed Walker as an “elite” right-back and character who he views as an inspiration and while his status as a Premier League great remains unchanged, the 34-year-old has undergone a fall from grace.
Pedro Porro eyed as Walker replacement by Man City
In November, a report emerged that Manchester City fancy Pedro Porro as a potential successor to the six-time Premier League winner.
However, it was also claimed that Tottenham would only part ways with the Spanish international for £80 million.
Furthermore, it was stated that Real Madrid consider Porro as the long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
Whether Manchester City feel the ongoing season should be Walker’s final one at the club will be interesting to see.
Being City’s captain and a club legend, he is one of the most esteemed names within the Etihad Stadium.
But game after game, it seems like Walker can no longer be relied upon by Manchester City at the highest level.
