A surprise celebrity has revealed the diehard Celtic fan in Hollywood - as Jadon Sancho gives Rangers advice.
It’s continental football this week for Rangers and Celtic before the pair meet each other at Hampden.
The Hoops get a two-day head-start for Premier Sports Cup final preparations when they take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday. It’s a battle of Britain for Rangers at home to Tottenham on Thursday night in the Europa League.
They’ll have less prep time for the first major final of the season than their rivals but don’t expect that to decrease expectations. Ahead of the clashes, here’s some headlines with Rangers and Celtic flavourings.
Sancho’s Rangers advice
Chelsea star Jadon Sancho has told Rangers that Tottenham can be got at by breaking their press. Former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has taken his high wire attacking tactics to Spurs and after a 4-3 win over them, Sancho says that is where the Angeball can be burst.
He told Optus: “They’re very aggressive and we knew we would catch them if we broke the lines and beat their press. The gaffer always told us in training to stay wide, especially the wingers to create the one-vs-ones, you know the overlaps for two-vs-ones. So I’m just happy that we got the four goals and the three points.”
Butler the Celtic diehard
Gerard Butler originally hails from Paisley and has been in a whole host of Hollywood blockbusters like 300, Olympus has Fallen and many more. Worth an estimated $80m, the extent of his Celtic fandom has been revealed by 50 Cent.
After a headline slot at TRNSMT was announced, the rapper told the Sunday Mail: “Man, Gerard [Butler] is crazy about Celtic. I don’t think I have ever met somebody more in love with their team. We are going to watch a Celtic game together. That guy won’t miss a game even when he is shooting – he must go up another level when he is actually at the stadium.
“When we were filming Den of Thieves, Gerard would not miss a single second. If I went to watch a game in Scotland it would have to be Celtic. He would never forgive me if I went to watch anybody else.”
