Unitedwanted Laimer in 2022 before he joined Bayern from RB Leipzig on a free transfer. Then-United boss Ralf Rangnick was keen on securing his compatriot’s signature, but the midfielder opted to stay in Germany.
Current United boss Ruben Amorim needs legs in midfield. The Portuguese tactician has spoken about needing to run, and they don’t have that in the engine room.
Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are no longer athletic enough to do the hard graft on the pitch. They should be phased out soon.
Their lack of athleticism is a massive cause for their struggles this term. United will hope to add some steel to their midfield this January, and Laimer would be a brilliant addition to the roster.
The 27-year-old is a workhorse whose most notable attribute is his non-stop running. He is a marauding figure, bustling about winning possession and driving the team forward.
Besides, Laimer can operate as a right-back, providing cover for the position. This versatility is a tactical weapon as he can receive close to the touchline or slot into midfield seamlessly during the build-up phase.
The former RB Salzburg star has played a bit-part role this season under Bayern manager Vincent Kompany, but he is surprisingly content and is not looking for a move away.
The report also mentions that United are assessing other options, and one will likely be Atalanta manEderson.
The 25-year-old midfield powerhouse has impressed with his performances in Serie A, the Champions League, and the Europa League, catching the eye of several top European clubs, including Liverpool and Man United.
The Red Devils have been tracking Ederson since last summer and could move for him in January.
