Dan Ashworth
Dan Ashworth lasted just five months as Manchester United's sporting director
Manchester United and Arsenal are both eyeing a move for Luis Campos following the departures of their sporting directors.
Dan Ashworth was ousted as United's sporting director after just five months in the role following their 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest, having fallen out with chief executive Omar Berrada over the appointment of new manager Ruben Amorim.
Edu, meanwhile, stood down as Arsenal's sporting director last month and is now expected to take on a new role overseeing the stable of clubs owned by Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis.
According to a report from i, both United and Arsenal are 'set to do battle' for Campos. The 60-year-old currently works as a football advisor for Paris Saint-Germain, having previously been sporting director at Monaco and Lille.

The report states that United are still weighing up whether they should replace Ashworth after his short stint in the role, but Campos would be 'top of their wish list' if they decide they need a new sporting director.
However, Arsenal are also interested in bringing in Campos, who has been credited with driving a culture change at PSG that has seen them stop signing big names like Lionel Messi and Neymar and start signing hot prospects like Joao Neves and Desire Doue.
Crystal Palace's Dougie Freedman and Atletico Madrid chief Andrea Berta have also been linked with United, but the club are in 'no rush' to sort a replacement with Berrada overseeing a hierarchy that includes technical director Jason Wilcox and director of recruitment Christopher Vivell.

News of Ashworth's departure came after United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe warned of the need to make "difficult decisions" to improve the club's on-field performance. " Manchester United has become mediocre," he told the United We Stand fanzine.
"It is supposed to be one of the best football clubs in the world. We have to make some difficult and unpopular decisions. If you shy away from the difficult decisions, then nothing much is going to change.
"I know we get criticism in the press, but we do need to challenge the cost of running this club because what I want to be free for us to do is buy really good footballers, not spend so much of the money on infrastructure. We can't run a business at a loss, which is where United have been in the last couple of years."
