While managed detection and response (MDR) was always the sole preserve of the security team, its presence as a key practice inside DevSecOps teams means that software application developers are increasingly touching the tools associated with this space.
That’s the message coming out ofSygnia, an organisation now working with Wiz.
The two firms are integrating Wiz Defend into Sygnia’s MRS tools.
This is a coming together of Wiz Defend Cloud Detection and Response (CDR) with Sygnia’s Incident Response (IR)-driven approach for visibility across IT and operational technology cloud-based and on-premises networks.
The two firms will work to provide monitoring, threat hunting and real-time response at what they claim to be a “battle-tested” level.
Wiz draws upon Wiz Integration Network (WIN) partners like Sygnia to detect and respond to cloud-based threats. Sygnia was selected as a launch partner due to its MDR and IR capabilities. Sygnia MDR integrates with Wiz Defend so that network analysts can detect and remediate cloud issues.
The WIN platform enables bi-directional sharing of security findings across the cloud security ecosystem comprised of partners like Sygnia that help mutual customers detect and mitigate real-time threats.
With the introduction of Wiz Defend, Wiz is now extending threat data to Sygnia to help analysts prepare, investigate, detect and respond to cloud incidents.
“To keep complex environments continuously secure in the face of an endlessly evolving threat landscape, you need complete visibility, purpose-built technology, powerful detection capabilities and a deep understanding of attack behaviour. This makes Wiz and Sygnia well matched and a powerful offering for both Wiz and Sygnia customers alike,” said Amir Becker, SVP of global cyber services, Sygnia.
The combined value of these two offerings is hoped to streamline security for organisations seeking to eliminate blind spots and telemetry gaps in order to improve cloud incident response readiness, multi-cloud threat detection, investigation and threat hunting.
“WIN partners are key to the success of Wiz Defend,” said Oron Noah, VP product extensibility & partnerships at Wiz. “Users want agility, choice and the ability to work with the best of the best – thanks to WIN, they get it in one place while also reinventing threat detection in the cloud.”
WIN enables joint customers of Sygnia and Wiz to receive visibility across their network by integrating Wiz’s cloud vulnerability tools into Sygnia’s MDR platform for enhanced threat detection across all environments.
Certainly, for software developers pulled into the scope of a DevSecOps team who don’t necessarily want the additional security burden placed into their workflow (or for those that really don’t have skills in this domain) then the prospect of a more managed MDR-level set of tools will have some appeal. Whether these two organisations successfully dovetail their technology bases for the greater good in the long term or not, the drive to push towards automation of services that spans cloud and on-premises deployments
