Liverpool transfer news: Alexis Mac Allister's future plans as Reds contract prediction made

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah during Newcastle vs Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah have yet to agree new Liverpool deals

As Liverpool prepare to face Girona in the Champions League, there's still a fair amount of focus on the Reds' transfer business.

Arne Slot couldn't have asked for much more from his charges this term, having raced into an early lead in the league and in Europe. Tuesday's trip to Spain arrives with Slot's men protecting the only remaining 100 percent record in the Champions League, against opponents with just one win in the competition.

Behind all that, though, there are still questions about those three exiring contracts. There has been more noise around Mohamed Salah of late, with fans also playing a waiting game when it comes to discovering the longer-term future of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Separate from that, though, the Merseyside club have also been paying close attention to recent comments from Alexis Mac Allister. Here are Mirror Football's latest lines from around Anfield.

Mac Allister addresses possibility of Spain move

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has spoken of his love for Spain and indicated it's somewhere he'd like to move one day, but insisted he's happy at Anfield. The Argentina star joined the Reds from Brighton in 2023, and is under contract until 2028.

"Yes, why not?" Mac Allister told AS when addressing the chance of a move. "It's a country I like a lot and I've visited it several times, and, above all, because of the language and the culture, it's very similar to Argentina. I would definitely like to play in Spain one day."

One day doesn't mean immediately, though. "Right now I'm very comfortable at Liverpool and I don't think about what might happen in the future," he added.

Alexander-Arnold contract hint dropped

Speaking to the same publication, Mac Allister hinted that progress has been made when it comes to Trent Alexander-Arnold's future. Right-back Alexander-Arnold has also been linked with a move to Spain - specifically Real Madrid - and is out of contract in 2025.

Alexander-Arnold has remained a key player for Liverpool this season

"Hopefully Trent and Virgil can continue with us along with Salah," the South American said "Alexander-Arnold is crucial as we saw against Manchester City when he came back from injury.

"Like Salah, he is in negotiations and hopefully he can continue in the team," he added. The right-back has spent his entire career with Liverpool, but those Real Madrid links haven't been going away.

Reds flop Keita on the move again

Naby Keita's move from Liverpool to Werder Bremen hasn't gone according to plan, and he could be on the move once more. The midfielder joined the German club in 2023, but hasn't played since April and has been frozen out entirely.

"I believe that it's best for both sides to simply look ahead and into the future, to see what good solutions Naby can find for himself and what solutions we can find without him," manager Ole Herner said. The Guinea international was slapped with an internal suspension late last season, having only been used sparingly in his first season.

Now, according to Bild, Keita is tipped to join Ferencvaros on loan in January. The Hungarian club are battling to defend their league title, and at the time of writing sit in the play-off spots in the Europa League's league phase.
