Liverpool can go one step closer to securing their spot in the Champions League knockouts with a win against Girona later today.
After the proposed Merseyside derby was called off on the weekend due to high winds, Liverpool have managed six days rest ahead of the clash with Girona in the Champions League, something unheard of in the busy December schedule.
After a 3-3 draw against Newcastle midweek, a break was potentially needed for Arne Slot's side, but all attention now turns to the clash in Spain later today where the Reds can make it six wins from six in Europe.

Girona have struggled so far in the Champions League winning one and losing four of their first five games. Liverpool have been handed a boost ahead of today's clash with Diogo Jota and Alisson returning to training, but it's unlikely the duo would even be risked.
So, can Liverpool get back to winning ways against Girona later today? Let's take a look.
We simulated Girona vs Liverpool to get a score prediction
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict the Spanish side could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Gazzaniga; Martinez, Lopez, Krejci, Gutierrez; Martin, Romeu; Asprilla, Van de Beek, Danjuma; Miovski.
We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kelleher; Quansah, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones, Elliott; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
Liverpool started fantastically in Spain, with the Reds causing all sorts of issues for Girona in the opening stages. Darwin Nunez looked sharp in the first 15 minutes, and with his third shot of the game, he fired Slot's side into the lead.

Mohamed Salah picked up the ball on the right before cutting inside, setting off alarms in the Girona defence as they rushed out to the Egyptian. Salah drifted past three players before sliding a reverse pass for Nunez, and the striker took his shot early, finding the far corner to make it 1-0.
Just moments later, Liverpool scored again, with Jarell Quansah heading in Andrew Robertson's corner at the near post to double the lead before the 20-minute mark. Slot's side were unbelievable in the first 45 minutes, and just three minutes after the restart, they grabbed a third to all but wrap up the three points.

As Liverpool won back possession on the halfway line, Curtis Jones flicked the ball to Harvey Elliott who lifted an inviting pass over the top of the Girona defence for Nunez to chase. One-on-one with the 'keeper, Nunez entered the box before blasting his strike into the roof of the net, putting the Reds out of reach for the hosts.
Jones almost made it 4-0 in the final few minutes with an ambitious long-range effort, but his shot from 25 yards out was tipped onto the post as Slot's side picked up another convincing win in the Champions League.
