Mario Lemina completely lost his head and pushed a Wolves coach following his side's crushing 2-1 defeat to West Ham United.
Wolves suffered their third straight defeat in the Premier League against West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday.
Gary O'Neil's side remain in the relegation zone, occupying 19th place - with just nine points on the board.
Their misery was compounded when club captain Lemina went berserk at full time.
After the final whistle, he snubbed Jarrod Bowen's handshake, resulting in a tangle.
The West Ham man, who scored his team's winner, reacted angrily and confronted Lemina, who hurled his counterpart to the floor.
From then on, the Wolves midfielder saw red and had to be restrained by several of his teammates.
Nelson Semedo tried to calm him down but to no avail.
Lemina then clashed with first-team coach Shaun Derry, shoving him before Toti Gomes stopped his colleague from escalating even further.
The 31-year-old continued to remonstrate as he marched over to the travelling Wolves support before heading down the tunnel.
Wolves, meanwhile, are four points from safety as O'Neil defended his position at the club amid anger from his own fanbase.
"The people above me are supportive," he told Sky Sports after the game. "But of course the supporters want their football club to be successful.
"I understand them pointing the finger at me and it's my team and I have to take responsibility, but when I arrived at this football club they had picked up just [41] points in the Premier League (the previous season)."
O'Neil added: "Since that moment, we have managed to make £200m in player sales. We have sold an awful lot of players if you go back to Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Daniel Podence, Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez, Diego Costa, Pedro Neto and Max Kilman.
"And then we're not now shopping in that market, we're looking for the other ones who are for the future that can help us in the now."
