Jonathan David of Lille is one of the several players that FC Barcelona are tracking for the summer of 2025, due to the player being on the verge of his contract expiry.
Indeed, the Canadian international’s current deal with the Ligue 1 club runs out at the end of the season, meaning he will be available as a free agent in the summer.
The situation has piqued the interest of the Catalan giants, along with some other big clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal.
Barcelona have some doubts about David
However, according to a fresh update from SPORT, the possible signing of Jonathan David at Barcelona is moving away slowly.
The Canadian forward was offered to the Blaugrana sporting management some time ago, and the reality is that he has been closely monitored, especially in the ongoing UEFA Champions League.

Barça’s technical staff have no doubts that David is a player with potential and goal-scoring ability, representing a genuine market opportunity at no transfer cost, despite his request for a signing bonus effective from 30 June.
Economically, Barcelona have no doubts that this would be a good operation.
However, both club director Deco and manager Hansi Flick have reservations about the forward and his style of play as he struggles significantly when spaces are limited.
Tottenham lurking
At present, these doubts have slowed any decision regarding Jonathan David, and other clubs are pressuring to secure him on a pre-contract agreement in January ahead of the summer market.
The Canadian international has a significant economic offer from Tottenham and will wait, but not for long.
Barcelona have been warned and continue to hesitate, although they have a month to decide their approach. However, as things stand, his prospects of joining appear slim.
