Senior board interviews take place at Everton already, favourites emerge - The Esk

Everton owner Dan Friedkin

Everton have already held interviews as they look to appoint a new chief executive officer and chair of the board, according to The Esk.

Paul Quinn has revealed that the Toffees have already spoken with candidates for positions in the hierarchy and have picked their favourites, with The Friedkin Group close to completing their takeover [Alan Myers, 8 December].

While Andy Bell and George Downing may not be in the running, the process of making changes in the boardroom is “well underway”.

Speaking on the Talking the Blues Podcast [8 December], The Esk said: “So, you know, they’re looking to appoint the CEO, they’re looking to appoint a new Chair of the board. That process is well underway.

“People have been interviewed. I believe there are some favourites now for those positions. And there will be new board members as well. Not necessarily Andy Bell or George Downing, as people might have wanted, but others.

“So we will end up in a situation by, certainly, by the beginning of the year, if not before the end of the year, where we have a completely brand, obviously brand new ownership but also a brand new board, including a brand new chief executive officer.”

Dan Friedkin needs to start new era at Everton

Farhad Moshiri’s reign at Goodison has been far from pleasing for fans who’ve had to see their team struggle over the last few years.

The British-Iranian businessman has mismanaged the Merseyside outfit’s resources since taking control.

Kevin Thelwell is another figure at the Blues who’s performed well below par, and taking into account the shoddy transfer recruitment, TFG would be well in their right to review his position.

Everton have struggled off the pitch, and the cracks are now showing on it, with the Merseyside outfit fighting relegation in the last few seasons.

Dan Friedkin is close to completing the Everton takeover.

Apart from restructuring the hierarchy, the new owners will also have to make a decision on Sean Dyche.

The English head coach has done well to keep the Toffees’ English top-flight status, but the team have regressed under his management.

Dyche has bought himself some time after the 4-0 win over Wolves on 4 December, but with a tough schedule ahead, it remains to be seen whether the 53-year-old will survive in the coming weeks.

With the takeover and the move to Bramley-Moore Dock, a new era is on the horizon for the Goodison faithful — hopefully a bright one.
