Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones believes that Andre Onana has been one of the Red Devil’s best players this season despite a horror show against Nottingham Forest this past weekend.
While United slumped to a 3-2 defeat, Onana came under scrutiny for errors made in two of Forests’ goals scored at Old Trafford.
On the back of a topsy turvy debut season, Onana knuckled down and has been one of United’s most consistent performers in the last couple of months. Despite the mistakes made against Forest, Jones suggested that the 28-year-old will be a crucial component for United in their bid to move up the league table.
“He will be disappointed with that,” Jones said, as per United In Focus.
“When we watch it back, it’s not a great watch. I’d like to give him a bit of credit and say the ball is deviating but it’s hardly one of the knuckle balls. He should be saving it.
“I think what you would say is that he’s made a mistake there but he’s been terrific so far this season.”
