When we were paired with Monaco in this season's Champions League draw, one man with a foot in both camps would have been relishing the match-up more than most.
He may now be honoured with [a statue outside Emirates Stadium](https://www.arsenal.com/news/arsene-wenger-statue-unveiled-emirates-stadium), but Arsène Wenger is also an iconic figure in Monaco's history having spent seven years in charge of the club between 1987 and 1994.
He won the Ligue 1 title in his first season, and established Monaco as one of the top three clubs in French football. They would also win a Coupe de France under his management, and reach the final of the 1992 European Cup Winners Cup final and the semi-finals of the 1994 Champions League.
Back in 2015, he was offered a homecoming of sorts when we drew the Principality club in the Champions League knockout stages, and the Frenchman reflected on his tenure as part of a two-part feature where he discussed his time at Les Rouge et Blanc.
We also spoke to his assistant manager at the time Jean Petit who shed some light on what Arsène was like in his early managerial career, and found out more about some of the club legends who played under them such as George Weah and Thierry Henry.
