Opinion: Embarrassing West Ham ace disgraced himself with what he did after full-time vs Wolves

West Ham United beat Wolves 2-1 in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Monday night.

It was a vital result – one that kept Julen Lopetegui in a job at West Ham…for now at least.

The performance from the Hammers was far from convincing in the end, and the Hammers News player ratings reflected exactly that.

It was a real mixed bag out there at the London Stadium.

We still seem to be wide open at the back, and I don’t feel like we have nay kind of clear footballing identity.

Lopetegui seems to be absolutely lost to me – a man bereft of ideas of how to actually change things for the better.

The Spaniard was the wrong appointment in the first place. However, numerous players need to shoulder some of the blame as well.

Many of our summer signings have failed to hit the mark so far in the Premier League.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

And one of them in particular looks to me like a rank bad addition to the squad.

Jean-Clair Todibo disgraced himself during West Ham vs Wolves

Todibo has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently.

He had to be separated from Lopetegui in the dressing room at half-time during our 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal.

And since then, he has barely featured for the Hammers.

It’s no surprise really is it, if the rumours are to be believed.

Something the Frenchman did after the game proved to me that he’s not someone you would want in your corner when things get tough.

Jarrod Bowen and Mario Lemina clashed just after the full-time whistle, when the Wolves skipper refused to shake the West Ham star’s hand.

Lemina lost his head, and none of his teammates were able to calm him down. That’s when Todibo stepped in and he would not leave the Wolves midfielder alone…literally.

Why didn’t the West Ham centre-back just leave Lemina, and go and stand with his own teammates? I was screaming at my TV for the 24-year-old to leave the Wolves midfielder alone.

I personally feel like that told us a lot about the French defender.

West Ham made a big error signing Jean-Clair Todibo

He was a poor signing from the Hammers from the start, and not because he’s a poor player.

West Ham hijacked Juventus’s move to sign him from Nice in August.

And it has since been revealed that Todibo was forced into joining the Hammers instead of Juve.

It’s now looking like that claim had some real substance.

Aside to all of that, the Frenchman has looked woefully off the pace when he has played for us so far this season.

It is questionable as to whether he has the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

And his mentality seems to be severely lacking as well.

I didn’t like what West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo did after the full-time whistle against Wolves one little bit.

Whether he’s close friends with Lemina or not is irrelevant in my mind. He should have stood shoulder to shoulder with his captain, rather than the Gabon international.

And besides, Lemina didn’t want to know anyway! He had absolutely no interest in being calmed down.

That was very poor indeed from Todibo in my eyes.
