Sean Dyche now has the option of playing Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja up front together for Everton, Michael Ball has said.
Writing in the Liverpool Echo (10 December), Ball argued that following Broja’s “lively” debut off the bench in the Blues’ 4-0 demolition of Wolves last week, the Albania international could become a starter.
Calvert-Lewin has been the starting striker for 13 of the 14 Premier League games this season, but a change in setup could now allow the pair to play together up front.
Ball said: “I know it was only a 10-minute cameo but Armando Broja looked lively on his Everton debut.
“I’ve questioned Sean Dyche’s substitutions in the past but it looks like he might have a lot of options in the next few games up front.

“He’ll have to decide whether he wants to put Broja straight down the middle or alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin or whoever plays up front as an additional option.”
Sean Dyche finally has ample options up front for Everton
The Blues are yet to play since their 4-0 win over Wolves – thanks to Storm Darragh forcing the postponement of the Merseyside derby – giving Dyche an extended period to try out new combinations.
Broja’s long-awaited return to fitness and subsequent debut is a massive boost for the Toffees boss amid the busiest period of the season, which will become even busier with the derby’s rearrangement.

The 53-year-old clearly has his favourites at Finch Farm – with Calvert-Lewin scoring just twice in 13 starts and without a goal since mid-September – but Dyche can now rotate through his options.
Beto starting ahead of Calvert-Lewin against Manchester United didn’t quite have the desired effect, and while it’s likely the England international starts against Arsenal, Broja provides a clear alternative.
Dyche dropping Iliman Ndiaye or Dwight McNeil – who have often started in the number 10 role this term – is unlikely, but playing the pair either side of Broja and Calvert-Lewin up front would give the Toffees a formidable frontline.
In other Everton news, Dyche has been backed to prevent a “disaster” from occurring before the club’s new stadium move.
