**Savinho has admitted that it is a ‘dream come true’ to be playing for Manchester City following his blockbuster move within the City Football Group last summer.**
The Premier League champions moved quickly to ensure that the Brazil international’s future would be tied to the Etihad Stadium during the winter months of 2023 and into 2024, such were the level of his performances in La Liga.
The former ESTAC Troyes winger, who was into his second successive loan spell away from the French club, was a pivotal part of Míchel’s UEFA Champions League-qualifying Girona side that made history with their top-four finish in Spain’s top-flight last season.
And whilst the privilege of competing in Europe’s premier club competition would have no doubt been special for the player at a club he had contributed so much too, the lure of Manchester City was simply too much to turn down.
Speaking during a recent interview with City’s official club website, Savinho revealed that it is a ‘dream come true’ for him to be playing in the Sky Blue shirt under Pep Guardiola this season.
“For me it’s a dream come true to be here at Manchester City,” the Brazil international said. “I think every player dreams of playing at a big club, of winning the opportunities that I’ve had. So, I’m privileged to be here with the best coach in the world, the best players in the world.”
The 20-year-old also looked back on a challenging few weeks for the club that saw them go seven games without a win, before beating Nottingham Forest and drawing to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
“Speaking personally, I don’t like to lose – I don’t take it well, I get really annoyed,” the Manchester City winger admitted. “The last few weeks have been horrible for me. I thank god that we were able to get the win against Nottingham Forest. We just kept working hard.”
He continued, “We knew that we’d never been on a run like this for years, but I was quite surprised by how well the players dealt with it. We knew that it was a bad run, but that everything passes, and hopefully we’re out of it now.”
Savinho’s Manchester City career has got off to a relatively mixed start, having settled into the style of play deployed by Pep Guardiola pretty well, offering plenty in the way of chance creation and assists during the first-half of the season.
However, both the club’s supporters and the player himself are continuing to await Savinho’s first goal for Manchester City, despite his teammates insisting that it is not something that is weighing up the player’s shoulders too much.
Next up for Savinho and Manchester City is an away trip in the UEFA Champions League, with Juventus the opponents on matchday six of the competition, before a clash with Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United side awaits on Sunday afternoon at the Etihad Stadium.
