Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim wants additions at Man United
Manchester United could sign AC Milan star Theo Hernandez for just over £40m after the Italian side decided to drop their asking price.
The Red Devils have put a new left-back at the top of their shopping list under Ruben Amorim. United already have two left-sided fullbacks in their ranks in Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia but the pair’s fitness issues have left them looking for a more reliable option.
Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies had been considered. But a deal was considered difficult amid interest from Real Madrid, while the Canadian now looks set to sign a new deal with the German giants.
Another option could be AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez. He is seen as an ideal candidate for new boss Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

The French left-back has just 18 months remaining on his own contract with his current employers. The Italian giants have been keen to tie Hernandez down to an extended deal and were even demanding €80m (£66.1m) for his signature.
But their asking price has now dropped significantly which could open the door to a possible move to Old Trafford in the near future. As per CalcioMercato, Milan would now reportedly entertain offers of around €50m (£41.3m) to sell the defender.
Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada recently opened up on talks with Hernandez, as well as goalkeeper Mike Maignan - the pair’s deals expiring in 2026. He said: “We started the negotiations two months ago and we can say it’s going very well.
“I don’t know which will be first to sign, but we have started very well. Obviously, everyone is happy, I have not seen anyone who wants to leave. You can ask them, they are all happy here at Milan.”

Asked if Hernandez could be a future AC Milan captain, Moncada added: “He will be. Not even he realises the potential that he has. Nobody has a left-back like this. I think he has a great career ahead of him, don’t forget he is still young.”
Hernandez, 27, has been at the San Siro since a 2019 move from Real Madrid. He has made 230 appearances since then, scoring 31 goals and notching 41 assists.
The 36-time French international helped the side to the 2022 Serie A crown. His next outing will likely come on Wednesday evening as Milan take on Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League.
