Wolverhampton Wanderers sent a scout to the Estadio Príncipe Felipe to watch CP Cacereño’s 3-1 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the Copa del Rey last week.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who state Wolves officials ‘didn’t hide’ that they were at Cacereño’s home stadium.
There’s no mention of the player, or players, that Wolves had travelled to watch.
In recent years years, the La Liga side have sold Jonny Otto, Raúl Jiménez, Diogo Jota and Matheus Cunha to the English club. These operations have helped the two clubs build a ‘great relationship’, which could open the transfer doors next summer.
Mundo are of the belief there are several Atlético players who could ‘fit well’ at Molineux. This includes Reinildo Mandava [contract expires next summer], Clément Lenglet [on loan from Barcelona], Rodrigo Riquelme and Samu Lino.
Reinildo was on the bench while the other three featured against Cacereño last midweek.
There should be more updates if the Premier League side are keen on signing any one of the Atlético players.
The report adds it’s unlikely the Wolves scout would have come to look at the players of the fourth division Spanish club.
