NFL Playoff Picture: Eagles are rolling but still have work to do

The Philadelphia Eagles are 11-2. They're winners of nine straight games. That ties a franchise record. If they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, they'll set a new standard. They have already clinched a playoff spot, but don't tell Birds fans that.

Eagles fans are frustrated with the passing attack. A.J. Brown is frustrated with the passing attack. What's worse is the film says A.J. has a point.

Week 14's action concluded with a Dallas Cowboys vs. Cincinnati Bengals game. If the season were to end today, they'd both be out of the postseason picture.

That being said, here's a look at what the current playoff bracket if the postseason were to begin today. The Eagles have clinched and are in good shape, but thanks to the Detroit Lions, Philly still has work to do.

The Kansas City Chiefs keep finding a way to win. Josh Allen strengthened his MVP case with six total TDs (three passing and three rushing). The AFC is loaded with good teams. Philly has some time to worry about that though. They host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15, but the only way they'd meet these teams during the postseason would be if they met them in the coming Super Bowl.

Team (and seed) Record Clinched Playoff Spot?

1. Kansas City Chiefs 12-1 Yes

2. Buffalo Bills 10-3 Yes

3. Pittsburgh Steelers 10-3 No

4. Houston Texans 8-5 No

5. Baltimore Ravens 8-5 No

6. Los Angeles Chargers 8-5 No

7. Denver Broncos 8-5 No

The Wild Card Round in the AFC would stack up as follows.

Team (and seed) Record Clinched Playoff Spot?

1. Detroit Lions 12-1 Yes

2. Philadelphia Eagles 11-2 Yes

3. Seattle Seahawks 8-5 No

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-6 No

5. Minnesota Vikings 11-2 No

6. Green Bay Packers 9-4 No

7. Washington Commanders 8-5 No

The Lions, if the season were to end today, would be the top-seeded team, and they'd host every postseason game they play vs. the NFC. The Wild Card Round would shake out as follows.

Philly had better watch their six for the Minnesota Vikings. They're currently the fifth seed because the Lions are surging, but Philly had better be careful. If there are any missteps and the Vikes keep winning, they could take the second seed and Philly could fall to five or worse.
