Confirmed Match Officials: Manchester City vs Manchester United (Premier League)

The Premier League have confirmed the list of match officials to take charge of this weekend’s Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

The latest edition of an intense city rivalry pairs two sides that are desperate for a run of winning form at very different stages of their respective developments under Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim.

For Manchester City, they will be keen to ensure that they remain unbeaten following their 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest and 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, hoping to ensure that they have turned the corner from a seven-game winless streak across competitions.

As for Manchester United, they have won just two of their five matches in their brand new Amorim-led era, losing their last two contests 2-0 at Arsenal and 2-3 at home to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The last round of English top-flight matches and Sunday afternoon’s Manchester derby is also sandwiched by European action for the two clubs as Manchester City travel to Italian giants Juventus on matchday six of the UEFA Champions League.

United also head out into the continent in Europa League action when they take on Viktoria Plzen in a clash between 12th and 13th in the league format of the competition over in the Czech Republic.

Ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Manchester United, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!

Match Referee

The Premier League have confirmed that the highly-rated Anthony Taylor will take charge of proceedings between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The 46-year-old Manchester-born official will be taking charge of his 14th English top-flight match of the season, having issued 53 yellow cards thus far in the campaign, one red card, and awarded seven penalties.

City have already come across Taylor once this season, having seen the referee oversee proceedings in their matchday one clash away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge – a game that they convincingly won 0-2 in London.

Overall, Manchester City have been officiated by Anthony Taylor in 44 previous matches, winning 25 of those contests, drawing nine, and losing 10 matches with 63 yellow cards awarded, four straight red cards, and nine penalties.

Assistant Referees

Operating from the roles of assistant referee at the Etihad Stadium this weekend and supporting Anthony Taylor will be a pairing of Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, the Premier League have confirmed.

Video Assistant Referees

Overseeing the Manchester derby from Stockley Park and the VAR Hub will be Video Assistant Referee Stuart Attwell, supported by Simon Bennett in the position of Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Standing between the two dugouts and ensuring that all is in line between Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim on Sunday afternoon will be referee Tim Robinson in the role of fourth official.
