Gary O’Neil suffered another damaging defeat as Wolves manager last night.
Wanderers fell to a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium, in a game that O’Neil really couldn’t afford to lose.
The narrative had been that if Wolves lost the game, O’Neil would lose his job.
That hasn’t happened yet, but Johnny Phillips reports that Wolves are ‘actively seeking replacements’ for the O’Neil.
For many, it was a shock that O’Neil was given the West Ham game, after the 4-0 defeat to Everton. There was a strong feeling in the fanbase that there was no coming back from that.
This morning a fresh update has been offered about O’Neil’s future – and it’s one that will not go down well.

It has been claimed this morning by talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook that O’Neil, as things currently stand, will be in charge for this weekend’s game with Ipswich Town.
That game takes place on Saturday.
He writes on X: “As it stands Gary O’Neil will be in charge of #Wolves v #ITFC this weekend.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
This is sure to frustrate a large section of the fanbase, with many supporters having completely lost patience at this point.
Under O’Neil, Wolves seem to be hurtling towards relegation, and many feel that a change of manager is paramount.
There was a suggestion from O’Neil himself last night that Fosun were supportive of him, so perhaps this update doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.
Wolves are playing with fire
It’s astonishing that O’Neil remains Wolves manager after such a poor season.
Yes, the fixtures were difficult to begin with and yes, he is not the biggest problem at the football club at this moment in time.
But Wolves have the power to remove O’Neil from his position, and the club is playing with fire by not doing so.
Wolves cannot defend under this manager, and he barely now has any support from the fanbase, which surely makes his position untenable.
He does seem to retain the support of the players which is obviously good. But that isn’t counting for anything right now in terms of results, and Molineux officials can’t let the O’Neil reign continue any longer.
