Ruben Amorim has named Christian Eriksen and Antony as two Manchester United players to try to offload in the January transfer window, according to reports. The Portuguese head coach will want to launch his much-needed rebuild at the earliest opportunity, which could spark some change this winter.
United backed former boss Erik ten Hag with another £200million in the summer but required several first-team player sales to unlock their activity.
The Dutchman's sack just months later paved the way for Amorim, who might not be as generously supported in the transfer market in 2025.
United's free-spending strategy under Ten Hag - splashing over £600m in just over two years - has left the club on the margins of financial regulations.
The Red Devils face a battle to stay in line with the Premier League and UEFA's rules, resulting in Ineos' ruthless budget cuts this year.
January is a notoriously tricky month to complete business as it is, and the club's financial troubles have lessened the likelihood of Amorim adding to his squad next month further.
However, the 39-year-old is reportedly ready to offload some of his newly inherited players midway through the season to clear space for his own signings.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Eriksen and Antony are two players who Amorim has placed in the shop window ahead of the January transfer window.
United are said to be ready to axe several players to boost their winter budget, many of whom are on lucrative contracts at Old Trafford.
Eriksen and Antony pocket a combined £350,000 every week but have so far played bit-part roles under Amorim.
Eriksen started and played 68 minutes in Amorim's maiden outing - a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town - but hasn't received a single minute in the four matches since.
Meanwhile, Antony played an hour at right-wing-back against Bodo/Glimt and made an 11-minute cameo at Arsenal.
But he was an unused substitute against Ipswich and Everton and was missing from Amorim's squad entirely for Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The report adds that Eriksen, who will be out of contract at the end of the season, isn't part of Amorim's long-term plans.
It's also claimed that Antony has failed to convince he can embark on a renaissance, having registered just 17 goal involvements in 89 games since his £86million switch from Ajax in 2022.
United will likely offload both next month if suitable offers arrive, which would potentially open the door for at least one new recruit.
