Sky Sports journo: Why Man United are now in discussion to sell Rashford next month or in the…

Manchester United are ready to sell English forward Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window or in the summer, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The 27-year-old Red Devils star has a contract with the club until the summer of 2028, but they are open to a sale due to his huge wages.

Rashford currently earns £300,000 per week at Man United, with only Casemiro earning more, and they believe selling him will help make room for them in subsequent transfer windows.

?? Manchester United would sell Marcus #Rashford at the latest by the summer and would already be open to top offers in the winter. The club acknowledge his development under Ruben #Amorim but consider him definitely not unsellable.

The Red Devils academy graduate takes home almost £16 million a year, and getting his wages off their bill will come in handy as they look to comply with the Profitability and Sustainability rules of the Premier League.

However, it remains to be seen whether suitors are willing to take a punt on Rashford right now given his form over the last 18 months.

The Man United star scored eight goals and weighed in with five assists in 43 matches last term and has seven goals and three assists in 27 appearances this season.

It is a decent return but not for someone earning £300,000 per week, and the club could struggle to find buyers for him given his wages.

They tried to get Casemiro out last summer but it fell through and they will attempt to get him off their wage bill again at the end of the campaign.

The likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are also expected to be moved on in the summer as Man United could do with a squad overhaul if they are to start challenging for major trophies anytime soon.

New head coach Ruben Amorim has watched on helplessly as they lost back-to-back in the Premier League to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, and it will not surprise many if he sanctions the sale of Rashford and many of the big names at the club.
