Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules have stopped Newcastle from improving their starting XI in recent transfer windows, but the Magpies cannot afford to wait much longer.

Newcastle United interested in signing Ademola Lookman
Newcastle continue to be linked to Jonathan David as his Lille contract ticks down, but fresh reports suggest Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman is on the club’s radar.
Lookman had a move to Newcastle collapse in 2020, but the Magpies could return for the former target.
According to GiveMeSport, Newcastle are one of four Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on Lookman ahead of a potential swoop in 2025.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are also said to have shown an interest in Lookman, who is capable of playing as a striker or on the right flank.
Geordie Boot Boys spoke exclusively to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who offered more insight into Newcastle’s interest.
“He is a player Newcastle have looked at over the past 18 months, but he won’t be moving in January that is for certain,” Bailey said. “Atalanta are in the middle of a title challenge and won’t allow any of the star men to leave in January.
“Paul Mitchell is working hard and would like to bring a forward in during January, but they are up against it – but at the very least they hope the sale of Miguel Almiron will help facilitate it.”
Ademola Lookman’s Premier League record
Lookman has been superb in Italy for Atalanta, with 10 goals and five assists in 17 games this season.
The 27-year-old has been on an upward trajectory ever since joining Atalanta in 2022. Before that, he spent multiple seasons in the Premier League.
After breaking through at Charlton Athletic, Lookman spent two years at Everton between 2017 and 2019.
