As the January transfer window looms, it is clear that Eddie Howe needs help at Newcastle United.
The Magpies struggled yet again on Sunday, as Newcastle lost 4-2 to Brentford.
It was another concerning defeat, as consistency continues to allude a Newcastle United side that wants to get back into Europe.
And it is also a Newcastle United side that has not really been strengthened over the past 12 months, with PSR restricting PIF’s ability to splash the cash.
There were no major signings in the summer, and now there is a chance that January could be quiet too.

That is according to TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has told Geordie Boot Boys about the noises coming out of Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window opening next month.
There is not a lot of positivity, with Bailey suggesting that a player like Miguel Almiron might have to leave to accommodate a new signing.
“Whether Miguel Almiron could go and that allows them to do something, that could be it,” he said.

“From what Newcastle are briefing, it does not seem like they will be able to do anything in January without at least one player like Almiron going.
“The fact that Eddie Howe keeps talking about January possibly being a struggle – it feels like he is doing that for a reason as he knows what is coming.
“It does not sound overly positive.”
Newcastle United must sell Miguel Almiron in January no matter what
Yet again, it looks like the Magpies need to sell to buy. That is incredibly frustrating, at a time when Newcastle are in danger of going stale.
Eddie Howe’s side could really do with a lift. However, it remains to be seen if they will get that in January.
Even if money was not an issue, Newcastle would only do business in January if the right player was available for the right price. That might not happen, but it does not nullify the need for the Magpies to sell.
When it comes to Miguel Almiron, his time on Tyneside is up. He is no longer influential at St James’ Park, with the Paraguayan barely featuring this season.
Eddie Howe is rarely turning to Almiron, while Newcastle’s bid to sign a new right winger is well documented.
It has been reported that Almiron is happy to leave Newcastle in January, so it feels like a Toon departure is best for all parties. That will help Newcastle reduce their wage bill, while it would open the door for Howe to make a new signing.
Even if a new signing is not on the cards, Newcastle should still press ahead with moving Almiron on. The longer he stays, the more his value decreases, and the less helpful a sale is with regards to Newcastle’s PSR position.
