Nottingham Forest in talks for 'some time' over exciting striker transfer

The chatter linking Nottingham Forest with Yuri Alberto is reaching almost daily proportions now as outlets in Brazil discuss the Corinthians striker’s potential move to the Premier League.

The latest to do so is website PL Brasil who have moved the story on quite considerably, citing ‘a source close to the English club' and also claiming information from the 23-year-old’s representatives – all of which points to concrete interest in a player who is the top scorer in the Brasileirão.

The story says he is also a target for a January transfer – even though his contract runs until 2027 – with ‘little optimism’ at Corinthians that he will be retained beyond 2025. Forest are likely to be in the market for striking options in the coming weeks having tried to bolster their resources in the last transfer window.

PL Brasil say Forest have been keen for ‘some time’, not only because he fits Nuno’s style of play, which tends towards more physical centre-forwards, but also because of the improvement he has made playing with better players at Corinthians.

They cite the presence of Memphis Depay and Rodrigo Garro as beneficial to Alberto’s performances. Indeed he has 31 goals in 57 games in all competitions this year.

All that said the article insists there is still ‘no official offer on the table’ for a player who came through at Santos, had a spell at Internacional before moving to Zenit St Petersburg.

He signed a five year deal with the Russian outfit in January 2022 but was loaned to Corinthians less than six months later. He returned to his homeland on a permanent transfer in January 2023.

As things stand Chris Wood has shouldered the burden of Forest’s goal-scoring for most of the season, backed up by Taiwo Awoniyi. Owner Evangelos Marinakis has recently spoken of his desire to strengthen, within the bounds of PSR, in the next transfer window.
