'No disrespect to them': Jermain Defoe tips 'massive' player to leave West Ham soon

Jermain Defoe has suggested that one West Ham United player is good enough to get a move to one of the top clubs in the near future.

West Ham played host to Wolves on Monday night, and Jermain Defoe was on punditry duty for the match.

Before the game kicked off, Defoe actually offered high words of praise for the Hammers fans.

That came as somewhat of a surprise, given the history between the striker and the West Ham supporters.

To put it bluntly, he is a hate figure in the East End after he pushed to leave us the day after we got relegated in 20023, and went on to join Tottenham eight months later.

With that in mind, it was a pleasant surprise to hear him speak so highly of us.

However, any goodwill he may have gained from that praise will have been quickly lost again.

That’s because Defoe tipped one Hammer to leave the London Stadium in the future.

Jermain Defoe can see one player leaving West Ham soon

The Hammers weren’t great against Wolves.

However, the magic of Jarrod Bowen pulled us through in the end.

That said, it was one of the West Ham captain’s teammates who Defoe spoke really highly of on Monday night.

The former West Ham striker told Sky Sports (December 9th, 7:48pm) how he can see Mohammed Kudus getting a move to a ‘top club’ soon.

Defoe said, “He’s a top player. Technically he’s good, he’s strong and gets goals and assists. He’s a massive player for West Ham and he’s good enough to get a move to a top club, no disrespect to them.”

To be fair, Defoe is probably right.

That said, Kudus has hardly covered himself in glory this season has he.

The Ghana international let us down badly in October when he received a red card during our 4-1 defeat to Tottenham and was subsequently handed a five-game ban.

Kudus hasn’t been anywhere near his best on the pitch either. It’s time for him to start producing the goods consistently for the Hammers again before he can even think about a big transfer away from the club.

Jermain Defoe said he can see Kudus leaving West Ham, but that won’t be until next summer at the earliest in my opinion.
