Coach to be officially presented at 3pm today after exit from Fulham

Hugo Oliveira was Marco Silva’s assistant manager at Fulham for over three years, having joined the club in 2021 along with his compatriot.

Before Fulham, the 45-year-old also worked with Silva at Everton, Hull City and Watford.

He’s now left Craven Cottage and is set to become a manager for the first time in his career. The story broke last week in Portugal that Oliveira would be leaving Fulham and taking over at Famalicao.

Today’s edition of A Bola states Oliveira will be appointed will be presented to the press by his new club at 3pm today.

This will be his first experience as a manager, having previously been a goalkeeping coach at Benfica and with the Portugal national team under the tutelage of Carlos Queiroz.

Ricardo Silva, who managed Famalicao against Porto as interim manager, will work with Oliveira. It is also possible that goalkeeper coach Rafael Defendi will remain part of his staff.

Given the close relationship built up with Marco Silva, the link obviously presents an opportunity for Fulham to get information on any talents coming through.
