There’s a strong claim in the Norwegian media that Ole Gunnar Solskjær has turned down the chance to return as manager at Molde FK.
The 51-year-old has been out of work ever since he was dismissed by Manchester United in 2021.
[VG.no](https://www.vg.no/sport/i/dRjExJ/opplysninger-til-vg-molde-kontaktet-ole-gunnar-solskjaer-fikk-nei) have reported on Molde’s approach for Solskjær after the Norwegian side sacked Erling Moe at the weekend following a poor season. Molde finished 5th in the league and after losing in the cup final on Saturday they will be without European football next season.
It’s claimed Solskjær was contacted on Sunday about taking the Molde job for a third time after two successful spells with the club. However, the former Norway international reportedly doesn’t see the job as a suitable option at the moment and subsequently rejected their advances.
Solskjær built his senior managerial reputation with Molde after he stepped down from his role as Manchester United reserve coach in 2011. The Norwegian returned to the club in 2015 and after three seasons with them he left to take the Manchester United job following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
He was initially brought in as caretaker boss of the Premier League side but was installed on a permanent basis ahead of the 2019/20 season. In his first full season at Old Trafford, he guided them to Champions League football, but after a poor run of results in the next campaign he was dismissed.
