Alphonso Davies will not sign a new Bayern Munich deal before the end of the year, meaning Manchester United will have a shot at signing the Canada superstar on a pre-contract in January.

According to Christian Falk, Bayern are putting pressure on Davies to extend his expiring contract before Christmas.

Bayern are desperate for this to happen so that Davies does not have the opportunity to meet with Manchester United and Real Madrid in January in order to discuss a pre-contract.

But Davies has no intention of signing a new contract before the end of 2024 and, at best, will consider continuing contract negotiations in the new year.

This means that Man Utd will legally have a shot at opening negotiations with Davies from January and convincing the left back to sign a pre-contract that would see him arrive on a Bosman Transfer in July.

Davies is a key target for Man Utd in 2025, although Real Madrid are considered favourites to sign him on a free transfer.

Davies is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season and seems almost certain to run down his deal.

Talks regarding a new deal hit a low point in the spring after Bayern issued an ultimatum that eventually passed without consequences and there was even a rapprochement when Vincent Kompany was named the club's new head coach.

Some positive discussions followed and Bayern decided to head into the new season with Davies on board despite the fact that the two parties were no closer to reaching an agreement. It now seems as if Davies will move into January without a new deal, also.

The German giants still have no intention of meeting Davies' hefty €20 million per season wage demands.

Man Utd are willing to offer Davies the biggest salary of any of the interested parties - with Barcelona also challenging Madrid for the left back.

Real Madrid favourites for Davies

However, the consensus in the media is that Davies is very likely to join Real Madrid.

Madrid are planning to revolutionise their full back positions in 2025, and dream of having Davies at left back and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back.

The Liverpool star is also out of contract at the end of the season and increasingly likely to leave on a Bosman Transfer.

Madrid are also planning to sign a central midfielder next summer to replace Toni Kroos, who retired this past summer.
