Marcus Rashford: Man United 'open to top offers' for attacker in January with key reasoning 'revealed'

Manchester United will reportedly consider selling Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window if they receive 'top offers' for the attacker.

Rashford, who has spent his entire career with the Red Devils since joining the club's academy at the age of seven, has made a total of 425 senior appearances, recording 138 goals and 67 assists, and has won five major trophies including two FA Cups and one Europa League.

However, the 27-year-old has struggled to recapture the form that saw him score a career-best 30 goals for Man United in the 2022-23 campaign.

Once regarded as one of the brightest talents in England, Rashford only notched up eight goals and five assists in 43 appearances across all competitions last season, and has since chipped in with seven goals and three assists in 23 games this term for a Man United side down in 13th in the Premier League table.

Three of those goals have been scored since the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim, who recently hinted that Rashford may have an important role to play under him at Old Trafford.

Man United discussing potential sale of Rashford

However, according to Sky Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, Man United are ready to sell Rashford 'at the latest by the summer' and would also be 'open to top offers' for the attacker in January.

Plettenberg adds that the Red Devils acknowledge Rashford's recent development under Amorim, but the Englishman is 'definitely not unsellable'.

One of the key reasons why Man United are discussing the potential sale of Rashford is that it would help strengthen their financial position and free up 'critical points in the complicated Financial Fair Play (FFP) system'.

As Rashford is a home-grown player at Old Trafford, his sale would represent pure profit for FFP and could therefore generate sufficient funds for the club to put towards new signings.

Rashford, who was linked with the likes of Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich earlier this year, is under contract at the Theatre of Dreams until the summer of 2028.

Who could Man United sign with funds from Rashford sale?

Man United have been linked with a plethora of attackers since the arrival of Amorim, none more so that Sporting Lisbon goal machine Viktor Gyokeres, with the Red Devils having allegedly held 'concrete talks' with the £83m-rated striker.

Amorim is reportedly keen for Man United to sign a new forward in January, but a deal for leading target Gyokeres could be difficult to achieve in the winter window due to the complex nature of mid-season deals.

Man United are also said to have identified Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface, Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani and Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush as potential targets.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils allegedly have a 'serious' interest in Napoli's in-demand winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is yet to agree a new contract with the Serie A club.

Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz is also 'one of the top names' on Man United's shortlist and Amorim's side are said to be closely monitoring the 19-year-old.
