Manchester City are considering putting forward a swap deal as they look to secure the services of Bayer Leverkusen attacking sensation Florian Wirtz.
Manchester City are in desperate need of some reinforcement as they look to add more quality to their squad. According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Pep Guardiola’s team are pushing hard to secure the services of Florian Wirtz has had an exceptional rise at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Premier League champions want to beat the competition to his signature and in an attempt to lower his price tag, they are all set to offer one of two players. They are considering adding Oscar Bobb or James McAtee in a deal to bring Wirtz to the Premier League.
Florian Wirtz joined Bayer Leverkusen at the start of 2020. While the youngster was a part of their Under-19 setup in the initial days, he got promoted to the first team in the summer and hasn’t looked back since.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the mainstays at both club and country. He is considered to be one of the best young talents in Germany and some of the biggest clubs after his signature.
Florian Wirtz has 10 goals and five assists in his 22 outings and is currently valued at £87 million. With his contract running until the summer of 2027, Bayer Leverkusen will demand an even higher fee for someone who seems destined for greatness.
Manchester City are keen on adding more firepower to their ranks. Pep Guardiola’s team have been a dominant force in Europe for the last few seasons, but they haven’t been at their best this time out. They recently went on a seven-game winless run.
Manchester City see Florian Wirtz as an ideal replacement for De Bruyne
Manchester City will undergo major changes to their squad over the next few windows in order to freshen things up. With Kevin De Bruyne soon turning 34, Guardiola wants a new attacking midfielder, and Wirtz could be the perfect replacement for the Belgian international.
The Premier League champions are desperate to sign the German international from Bayer Leverkusen and are ready to include some players as makeweights. Oscar Bobb or James McAtee are two players that the Bundesliga outfit admires and City could either of them to lower their demands.
Leverkusen consider both as ideal options to replace Florian Wirtz in their squad. While Bobb prefers playing on the right flank, he can feature as a ten as well as on the left. Meanwhile, McAtee prefers being in a number ten role but is comfortable on the flanks as well. They could see this as an opportunity to secure regular first-team action away from City.
City to face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool
While Manchester City are doing everything in their power to sign Florian Wirtz, they will face competition from Arsenal as well as Liverpool. The Reds seek more creativity and they want to bring in a new star player who can be the leader of their attack after Mohamed Salah.
Meanwhile, Arsenal want someone who can cover for Martin Odegaard as well as provide more options on the flanks. Both clubs are impressed with his rise and can surely make things difficult for Guardiola’s team.
