10 G/A Red now ‘fighting to save’ Man Utd career as ‘lifestyle concerns’ cited; Ineos ready to…

Despite being contracted to the club until 2028, Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United future has perhaps never looked as uncertain as it is currently.

The forward’s career-best goalscoring campaign in 2022/2023, which saw him net 30 goals in all competitions for the first time, saw him rewarded with a lucrative five-year contract while becoming one of the club’s highest earners – alongside Casemiro – on £325,000 per week.

For most players, such a deal would spur them on to continue and continue replicating such stellar showings each week, yet things have only gone downhill since for Rashford.

He followed up the season with a measly eight goals and five assists in 43 appearances and is currently on seven goals and three assists in 23 outings in 2024/2025.

The Telegraph claims that Rashford is now ‘fighting to save’ his career at Old Trafford, citing ‘lifestyle concerns’ as one of the reasons why, as well as his stagnant form.

In January, he was spotted partying in Belfast midweek before reporting ill for a training session at Carrington on Friday. Erik ten Hag reacted by dropping Rashford from the XI for United’s FA Cup tie with Newport County that weekend.

The 27-year-old, who’s been at United all his career, often cuts a notoriously frustrated figure on the pitch. Luke Edwards’ report adds there are ‘fears he is no longer as focused on his football as he should be’.

“Sources have said he is dealing with a number of off-field distractions that are affecting his performances.”

In terms of the options Rashford may have to ply his trade away from his boyhood club, Paris Saint-Germain have been mooted as the most likely European club to be able to meet his costly wages. Elsewhere, Saudi Pro League sides could take him on board without even batting an eye at his expenses.
