Leeds United having a “remarkable” home record will help carry their weakened squad to promotion, according to Ally McCoist.
Speaking on talkSPORT (9 December, 9:20am), McCoist said that despite the Whites not having as strong a squad as they did last season, he thinks they’ll have what it takes to earn automatic promotion.
Farke’s side are second in the Championship table ahead of facing Middlesbrough on 10 December and could go two points clear of Sheffield United if they win an eighth straight home game.
Stelling asked: “They sold a few players over the course of the summer – when you look at it, is it a stronger squad than last season?”
McCoist: “I actually don’t think it’s as strong as last year, to tell you the truth – I think it’s quite remarkable how they keep going and where they are.

“It’s a club that I think need to be in the top flight, they’ve got to be in the top flight. I think they’ll have enough to get one of the automatic two (places), and the main reason for that is their home form.”
Elland Road form can carry Leeds United to the Premier League
Just 10 home games into the season, United have already collected 25 points from a possible 30, and it’s this which could make the difference come the end of the campaign as the promotion race hots up.
Winning their last seven straight home games, the Whites have also kept six clean sheets across this streak, conceding just a solitary goal in October’s 2-1 win over Watford.

While Farke’s side have stumbled somewhat away from home, picking up three wins, four draws and two defeats, Elland Road becoming a fortress also saw table-topping Sheffield United suffer a 2-0 defeat.
With one of the league’s in-form teams coming next in the form of Middlesbrough, the Peacocks could be pushed closer than they have by many terms this term, including Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United side.
The summer sales of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter are yet to cause United to stumble in their bid for promotion, but Farke will know better than most that there’s still a long way to go.
In other Leeds news, Farke has shared how many games one of his key men will miss in an injury update from Thorp Arch.
