Miami Dolphins’ Most Valuable Player | Week Fourteen | Most accurate quarterback ever

I guess it’s time we rename this award the “Tua Tagovailoa Most Valuable ‘Phin” award, since Miami’s quarterback has been en feugo over the past three weeks leading to his third straight (and fourth in the past six weeks) MVP award this season — an award given to the Dolphins’ best performer every week by yours truly.

If you still don’t think Tagovailoa has been playing in rarefied air over the last three weeks, let this post from Travis Wingfield of the Drive Time Podcast illustrate why you’re wrong:

With his 3rd consecutive 300-yard passing performance, Tua Tagovailoa joined Dan Marino as the only QBs in team history to record 3 consecutive games with 300 yards.

Tua's streak of 3 games w/300 yards passing, 2 TDs and no INTs is the longest streak in franchise history.

Wow, crazy, crazy. Tagovailoa became just the second Dolphins quarterback to throw for 300+ yards passing in three consecutive games, joining Hall of Fame gunslinger Dan Marino in achieving that feat.

But wait, there’s more...

Tagovailoa just did something that Marino never did during his illustrious career. According to Wingfield, Tagovailoa’s streak of 300+ yards passing with at least two passing touchdowns and zero interceptions is the longest such streak in franchise history — meaning he’s the only Dolphins quarterback to ever reach those marks in three straight contests.

Tagovailoa is leading the National Football League in completion percentage in 2024 (73.8%). Oh, and he’s leading the NFL in completion percentage for an entire career (68.1%). Like... no one has ever been more accurate than Miami’s 26-year-old signal caller... ever.

And to top it all off, Tagovailoa led a game-winning touchdown drive against the New York Jets in week 14 — throwing a 10-yard dart to tight end Jonnu Smith to send Aaron Rodgers and company packing on Sunday.

Just face it — he’s good. Like, really good.
