Manchester United fans are all saying the same thing after new training footage of Academy talent Chido Obi-Martin emerged.
Manchester United have recently undergone a major transformation, replacing former manager Erik ten Hag with new head coach Rúben Amorim.
Alongside the managerial shift, the club has also placed a strong emphasis on producing young talent from the Academy at Carrington.
This summer, United made significant investments in their youth setup, signing some of the most promising prospects in the country.
Among them is Chido Obi-Martin, a former Arsenal academy player who joined the club’s U18s in a surprising move over the summer after he rejected offers from the Gunners and Bundesliga clubs.
Chido Obi-Martin adapting to life at United
Obi-Martin quickly adapted to his new club by scoring a 13-minute hat-trick on his full U18s debut against Nottingham Forest.
Since then, he has managed to become the top goalscorer in U18 Premier League history and also broke into the club’s Under-21s side. He came off the bench against National League side Rochdale last week and assisted the winning goal.
After receiving his first professional contract on his 17th birthday at the end of last month, Obi-Martin will be eager to keep pushing and trying to catch the eye of Amorim and his staff.
Obi-Martin’s extra training work
His eagerness to impress was shown this week as he was doing extra training work with RH Elite Coaching, who posted his shooting drills online.
RH Elite Coaching have worked with some of United’s top talent, including Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes.
Fans noticed Obi-Martin’s brilliant finishing ability in the clips and many believe that it won’t be long until the 17-year-old is getting first-team opportunities.
“Some of those finishes were pure class, he needs to be getting a run out soon!” one fan wrote on X.
Another claimed: First team soon. “Technique is unreal.”
A third added: “His numbers are incredible for his age! This lad is gonna light up the premier league in years to come.”
Obi-Martin and other youth talents will certainly be excited to know that Amorim will trust the Academy if they prove they are ready.
Godwill Kukonki has already been provided first-team chances at 16 years of age under the new head coach, which shows that there is an opening for the likes of Obi-Martin in the future.
