A match official who Jurgen Klopp took aim at for missing an obvious penalty during Liverpool's clash against Manchester City will take charge of VAR when the Reds face Fulham on Saturday. The former Kop boss was furious with VAR when the Reds were denied a penalty in a 'title-deciding' match against the Premier League champions last season.
Pep Guardiola had brought on Jeremy Doku in the second half. The Belgian winger clearly appeared to kick Alexis Mac Allister in the chest as the midfielder attempted to clear a ball.
The on-field referee, Michael Oliver, did not give it, and VAR Stuart Attwell stuck with his decision after replaying it plenty of times. Klopp did not hold back on his comments after the game. He said: "Why would the guy in the VAR studio think that is not clear and obvious, what must you have for lunch to think that? And if we win today what are we, four points ahead of City, that is not a distance that you should fall asleep. And Arsenal.

"But whatever I think now will not change that. I tried to explain to your colleague who said yeah but we have a high bar with VAR, always an explanation. I think everyone in this room thinks if he whistles a penalty it is not a scandal.
“He kicks the chest, yes he touches the ball, it is not a red card obviously but I speak so often about it, I really don’t care. Nothing what I say will change that so would love to use one of the massive chances we created.”
