Newcastle United’s Miguel Almirón has lost prominence under Eddie Howe, clocking in 119 minutes from six Premier League games this season.
The Paraguay international came off the bench in the Magpies defeat to Brentford at the weekend, after being an unused substitute in the last five league matches.
According to ABC TV, Paraguay manager Gustavo Alfaro is not at all pleased with the 30-year-old’s situation at Newcastle.
The national team boss has suggested the winger could leave the Premier League side in the winter market.
Alfaro is also unhappy with Julio Enciso’s situation at Brighton & Hove Albion and revealed he’s set to leave The Amex on loan in January. The manager also talked about Almirón.
“We talked when he [Enciso] came here, that he had the chance to leave. So, I hope he can find a place where he can have continuity. The same goes for Miguel,” he said.
“We have to wait in these next couple of weeks, they can be important because they can define things. It can also happen that the player wants a change of scenery, and the coach doesn’t want to let him leave or the club doesn’t want to give him up.”
Almirón’s contract at Newcastle lasts until 2026 and he’s been linked with a move to River Plate in January.
On November 16th, his agent, Daniel Campos, stated he wants to continue and fight for his place at Newcastle United. However, our days later the representative indicated his client could leave Howe’s side if there’s a big offer.
