timothee chalamet on college gameday

Movie star Timothee Chalameet blew the sports world away over the weekend when he appeared on ESPN’s College GameDay and displayed legitimate “ball knowledge,” as he was the only one at the table to pick Ohio University to beat Miami of Ohio.
The 28-year-old Academy Award nominee being a sports fan shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, however, as Timothee Chalamet grew up in New York City rooting for the Knicks and wanted to be a professional soccer player when he was younger.
“I’ve never been more wrong about anything in my life than I was about Timothee Chalamet college football knowledge. Im speechless. This guy knows ball,” a tweet with over 6 million views said of Chalamet’s appearance on College GameDay, which came as he promotes his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
As it turns out, there’s actually a well of evidence out there that Chalamet has been a lifelong sports fan, such as these hilarious unearthed tweets from former Knicks player (and current Atlanta Hawks general manager) Landry Fields gifting a young Chalamet free tickets to a game after he tracked them down in the City.

The contest where Timothée Chalamet won tickets from then-Knicks rookies Landry Fields and Andy Rautins was a showcase of elite ball knowledge, of course https://t.co/jYQtxvbAPp pic.twitter.com/Xx7gVN0YZz

There’s also a viral photo making the rounds of a young Chalamet scoring an autograph from then Knicks star Amare Stoudemire, further evidence of his true love of the game.
Chalamet being a huge sports fan is just one of many relatable anecdotes from his pre-movie star life, as he also famously ran a YouTube channel called “ModdedController360” in which he presented Xbox 360 controllers that he personally customized. His life is a little less relatable these days, however, as he stars in movies like Dune and dates women like Kylie Jenner.
A Complete Unknown, which Chalamet stars in alongside Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, and Scoot McNairy, releases in theaters on Christmas Day. Check out the official trailer below.
