PL giants Arsenal and Chelsea handed boost in pursuit of£70m rated striker

Arsenal and their Premier League rivals Chelsea are both in the market for forwards, with both London clubs seemingly landing on the same striker target. They are targeting a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who was previously linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in a long-drawn saga, before eventually moving to Turin.

Now, as per reports from TBR Football, the Gunners and the Blues are leading the race to lure the Serbian marksman away from Serie A, with Manchester United also in the mix as outsiders. One major factor that comes as a boost for all three sides is that Juventus are keen to offload the player.

The report adds that the Old Lady is dissatisfied with Vlahovic’s mammoth £200k per week salary and are looking to offload that from their payroll. Clubs in England have always had a stronger financial situation than Italian clubs and the footballing world could see examples of the same as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United could offer the player more money.

While the Premier League trio work out ways to facilitate a bid and potential move for Vlahovic, let’s take a look at the determinants that could decide the Serbian’s destination.

Chelsea already have Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in their ranks, but the latter has been unable to offer consistent performances owing to injuries. This leaves extra workload for Jackson, whom the club needs to protect and rotate effectively.

Manchester United, too, have two strikers on their payroll. Young striker pair Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have been signed for big money and are considered the future of the club. Bringing another striker ahead of them would arguably hinder their growth.

Lastly, Vlahovic could move to Arsenal, where he could have been playing had he not moved to Juve in January 2022. They only have Kai Havertz as a number 9, but due to his varied roles, he cannot keep defenders occupied enough. Gabriel Jesus is also at the club but is struggling to nail down a spot, opening the door for a new signing.
