Gary Lineker Reveals Major Arsenal Concern Ahead Of Monaco And Everton Matches

Arsenal come off the back of their first dropped points since the international break as they drew at Craven Cottage to Fulham.

The Gunners went 1-0 down in the 11th minute after Raul Jimenez scored the opener before William Saliba got on the end of a corner to make it 1-1.

Arsenal shared the points with Fulham, meaning they could only gain one point on Liverpool whose game against Everton was postponed due to weather conditions.

During the game, they yet again relied heavily on creating chances from corners like in their 2-0 win against Manchester United in midweek. Still, Gary Lineker is concerned about this despite their success from set pieces.

He said on The Rest Is Football Podcast: “Once again, they [Arsenal] looked really dangerous from set pieces and corners because their delivery is so good.

“I actually think Fulham defended them really well, but eventually if you keep getting a perfect delivery, which they do both from Saka when he takes them from the right hand side and Rice when he takes them from the left, that eventually an Arsenal player is going to win one of the headers.

“My concern a little bit at the moment with Arsenal is they’re not quite scoring the goals without those set-pieces, and they didn’t create too many opportunities yesterday.Arsenal really struggled to create much.”

Arsenal’s lack of goals from open play

Mikel Arteta will be delighted at how well-oiled and dangerous his side are from set-pieces, but they have struggled to produce dominant attacking play in their last two matches.

Against Fulham, the Gunners recorded just four shots on target from 12 attempts, and against Manchester United on Wednesday, they had six shots on target from 14 attempts.

They are getting into the good positions, but can’t seem to make the most of it, as Arteta’s side haven’t scored a goal from open play in their last two matches.

Arsenal turn their attention away from the league on Wednesday as they welcome Monaco to the Emirates in the Champions League. They then face Everton at home over the weekend, Arteta will be hoping his side can be less reliant on set pieces. No wonder they are being compared to prime Stoke City.
