As things stand, Manchester City look like a team on the downwards slope, opening the door for some of the other elite clubs in the Premier League to win the title this season.
Simon Jordan admitted to enjoying Manchester City’s struggles due to always wishing for any league not to be dominated by a single club season after season.
However, it would be unrealistic to expect Pep Guardiola’s men not to rise to the top once again.
Manchester City’s squad rebuild is scheduled in the summer of 2025, as per a report last Tuesday.
The Premier League champions are accustomed to winning major silverware every season and it seems unlikely that the decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium will take lightly to a poor campaign so far.

Cristian Romero urges Tottenham to ‘imitate’ Man City in one area
Due to City’s rousing success, it would be natural for them to be the envy of every other club in the English top-flight.
Tottenham Hotspur, for instance are a club who would aspire to become as successful as the Sky Blues have been since being taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Universo Premier League podcast, Cristian Romero claimed that much like Manchester City, Tottenham should invest in their side to be able to compete for the biggest honours.
Romero expressed: “The truth is, I would say no comment but…Manchester City competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn’t do well, strengthens again and now they’re seeing results.”
“Those are the things to imitate. You have to realise that something is going wrong, hopefully, they realise it.”
Romero added: “The last few years, it’s always the same: first, the players, then the coaching staff changes and it’s always the same people responsible.”
“Hopefully, they realise who the true responsible ones are and we move forward because it’s a beautiful club that with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year.”
However, judging by both clubs’ respective transfer activity in the past three seasons, Spurs have outspent City.

The numbers suggest that Ange Postecoglou’s side have tried to compete for the highest honours like the Sky Blues do by flexing their financial muscle in the transfer market.
However, Manchester City’s superior squad, recruitment and the presence of Pep Guardiola has meant that they have fared better than the Lilywhites over this period of time.
As a result, City’s need to splash the cash has not been as necessary in comparison to Tottenham.
If Spurs do listen to Romero in the summer of 2025, Manchester City will likely keep an eye on their transfer activity to ensure they do not leapfrog them next season.
