The Patriots are adding a kicker.
Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, New England is adding John Parker Romo to its practice squad on Tuesday.
Romo was waived by the Vikings over the weekend as rookie kicker Will Reichard returned from injured reserve. In four games for Minnesota, Romo connected on 11-of-12 field goals and 7-of-8 extra points. His one field goal miss was a 43-yard attempt that went wide left in the third quarter of Minnesota’s Week 13 victory over Arizona.
While Romo’s had previous stints with the Saints, Lions, and Bears since 2022, his first NFL regular-season action came with the Vikings. He also kicked for the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas in 2023, making 17-of-19 field goals.
Veteran Joey Slye has kicked for New England this year, but he’s made 78.6 percent of his field goals (22-of-28).
Coming off a Week 14 bye, the 3-10 Patriots will head to the desert to face the 6-7 Cardinals on Sunday.
