€45 million-rated Canadian forward is now moving away from Barcelona – Report

Hansi Flick has been able to get the best out of several FC Barcelona players, and the player who has inarguably benefitted the most from the new manager’s appointment is the striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Pole has already scored 23 goals in 21 appearances up to now and is having one of the best seasons of his career. However, the Blaugranes are also concerned about his ability to remain competitive at the highest level in the years to come as he is already 36 years of age.

Thus, they have been keeping their eyes on other forwards who can replace the Pole in the long term, and the Catalans have been linked with several players.

One such player is the Canadian Jonathan David, who is a very attractive option for Barcelona as he can arrive for free in the next summer transfer window. He was already offered to the Blaugranes a year ago, but according to SPORT, he is currently moving away from the Catalan club despite his desire to play in the blue and garnet colors.

Barcelona understand that David is a player with a good projection and someone who can provide them with goals, and also believe that signing him will be a good market opportunity as he can arrive for free.

Although the player is asking for a signing bonus, his signing would be good from an economic point of view. However, Deco and Hansi Flick are not entirely convinced with him, as they believe that he struggles to continue performing at his best level when he does not get a lot of space on the pitch.

Owing to these doubts, Barcelona’s moves for the €45m-rated Canadian have slowed down recently, while some other European clubs have intensified their efforts to arrive at an agreement with him in January and incorporate him for free next summer.

Tottenham Hotspur is one such club that has already made a strong offer for him, but while the player has decided to wait for now, he will not wait much longer. Barcelona, meanwhile, have a month to make a decision on the matter, but as things stand, his arrival at the Catalan club seems rather unlikely.
