Liverpool boss Arne Slot wants to make the most of the cancelled Everton game, playing a strong side against Girona. The Reds will face Girona on Tuesday in their sixth Champions League clash of the season in an away game.
Severely bad weather cancelled Liverpool’s game with Everton, giving the team an important resting period amid fixture congestion. The Reds have not enjoyed a lot of time for rest since the end of this season’s October international break.
Liverpool have faced several top clubs in the Premier League and the Champions League during this time, stretching their squad. They drew Newcastle United 3-3 in the last game during the previous midweek, showing signs of fatigue and casual errors.

Liverpool lost several key players like Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley since the current season’s start. New signing Federico Chiesa is still building his fitness level to make himself available for the senior team this season.
The early kick-off for Liverpool’s Merseyside derby against the Toffees had already frustrated the Reds’ fanbase. Fans have gladly accepted the postponement of the game which allows their player to regroup after the intense November schedule.
Speaking to the reporters (via Liverpoolfc.com), Slot highlighted Liverpool will not rotate the regular player against Girona after the Merseyside derby’s postponement against Everton. He said:
“Now everyone is really fit because we skipped the game on Saturday, so there’s no reason to rotate from the last match. Maybe there’s a reason for the upcoming match but there’s also three days in between that one. So, we will start like all the other games we’ve started with – with a very good team tomorrow.”
Liverpool have Alisson available again for the Girona game which is a major boost for the senior team. Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa continue working to regain fitness, while Tyler Morton recovers from an injury.
