Josh Allen Stats Offer Brutal Reminder on Bills Super Bowl Goal

Throughout the course of the 2024 season, the Buffalo Bills had tried to show that they were more than just Josh Allen bailing out the team in key moments of games.

Then Week 14 happened.

Allen was spectacular throughout the road contest against the Los Angeles Rams. He was the first quarterback in league history to record three touchdown passes and rushes in the same game.

The issue? Allen's heroic performance wasn't enough to beat the Rams in a 44-42 shootout. During the contest, the Bills became the first team in league history to score six touchdowns, not turn the ball over, and still lose the game at hand.

Sunday's loss was a brutal reminder for Buffalo's title hopes.

When push comes to shove, they are still far too reliant on Allen to bail them out of difficult situations.

While that's OK in the regular season, it certainly will bite them come playoff time. Take the Kansas City Chiefs or any of the top teams in either conference right now as clear examples.

Is Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff, or Jalen Hurts important to their teams being successful on a weekly basis? Of course.

Can those teams win when their quarterback isn't playing well? Absolutely.

That's a reality the Bills don't have at their disposal right now. While it could very well give Allen the MVP trophy at the end of the year, it'll put him behind the running for the Super Bowl once again.

Buffalo has done a tremendous job of building a roster that compliments Allen nicely. The issue of him being the only player to dominate in big games, though, is clearly still there.
